Christmas lights twinkle in the foreground, and snow falls softly onto the steeply pitched roof of this handsome country home. A beautiful mixture of materials adorns the exterior—brick and stone promising resilience against the elements of a harsh winter, and cedar shingles promising warmth and comfort. Beckoning you home is a large front verandah which wraps around the left corner to a side entrance.
On the porch, notice the decorated window shutters as you are drawn toward the halo-like effect of the sidelights around the front door. A tiled entryway is well-equipped for winter traffic. Two closets are waiting to receive your heavy coats, and make sure you leave those muddy boots in the corner.
Inside, the staircase designates the separation of rooms. Turn to the left to join family members around the dining table, and look up to see the hostess coming in from the kitchen with a tray full of turkey. Like the wide dining room entryway, traffic flows easily through the kitchen and into the living room around the corner. You can further clear the space for entertaining by throwing open the French doors on the opposite side of the fireplace.
The homeowner will appreciate the kitchen’s walk in pantry and bar counter space.
