House Plans Designed to Keep the Kids Close
Do you have a new baby? There’s nothing worse than having the nursery across the house from the master bedroom when he /she wakes up crying for attention. Young children will feel more secure knowing that you are only one room away, making it easier to help them acclimatize to sleeping in their own room. Below, we feature three house plans designed with the family in mind- the master bedroom is close to the smaller bedrooms.

You will be drawn to House Plan 24707 (1822 sq. ft.) by the oval picture window on the upper level which is repeated in the doors. Dainty porch spindles are topped with elegant Victorian style brackets. A deck is located in the rear of the home where you can enjoy grilling while the kids play football or swim in the pool. The garage offers room for parking two vehicles. Inside, you will pass the laundry / powder room on your way to the family room. Dividing family area from formal space are the kitchen and central staircase. Entertain with a fabulous meal and simply walk your guests across the foyer for a glass of wine in front of the fire. Upstairs, we have a small landing with access to the master bedroom, family bathroom and two smaller bedrooms. In the master is a walk in closet, bathroom with double sink and window seat with built in bookcases on either side.

flowers and potted ferns hanging from the front porch. Traffic from the front door will move ahead through the foyer or plop down on the couch in the living room. Sit down for a meal in the dining room under a trey ceiling or chat right there at the breakfast bar in the kitchen. Like a farmhouse kitchen, this is where the family gathers and where the work gets done. The washer / dryer closet is located right by the back door and a powder room is tucked behind it. The occupants of bedrooms 2 and 3 share a private bathroom with shower and double sink. Right around the corner is the master bedroom with full bath.

For a little more room, check out colonial style House Plan 24753 (2159 sq. ft.) which offers 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Thick columns support a gabled central bump-out with picture window. Other windows are abundant and arranged to give the house a uniform appearance as you would see in a historic example. Though we have a small front porch, you will find a huge sunny deck in the back. Entering from the foyer allows quick access to the staircase, formal living room or dining room. Across the rear of the home is the kitchen, breakfast nook with bay window and family room. At the upper level, you might want to take a seat at the window or walk along the balcony to check on the children. Your master bedroom has a walk in closet and all of the expected amenities in the bathroom.
