Country Craftsman House Plan 55603

Country Craftsman House Plan 55603

Stormy gray shake siding and stone masonry gives Craftsman House Plan 55603 a weathered, welcoming appearance. Under sheltering gables we see decorative brackets, and exposed rafters peek out from under the shingles. The freshly painted white garage door with strap hinges reminds us of a country carriage house. Deep turquoise blue Hardi Board siding makes a bold and pleasing contrast with the prim white trim and the window box spilling over with pink flowers. A delightful porch is decked out with tapered square columns supported by square masonry piers, and the front door is bordered by sidelights to enhance the natural light in the foyer.

An already spacious great room is made to look bigger with the vaulted ceiling. The layout flows into the combination kitchen / eating area which keeps the family close with meals at the breakfast counter or at the table tucked up close to the bay window. If a formal dining room is more to your taste, add a door closer to the kitchen leading into the flex space off the great room. This room is also functional as an extra small bedroom, gym or hobby room. French doors open to the covered porch in the back.

Plenty of privacy is achieved with a split floor plan, placing the master suite in the back of the house, opposite the childrens’ rooms. Windows are perfectly aligned for furniture arrangement, and small double doors open to a master bath complete with double vanity, jet tub and stand up shower. The essential walk in closet measures 10′ by 6.5′. Two smaller bedrooms share the full guest bathroom which has a tub / shower, linen closet and double sink. Both bedrooms are equal in size, sparing the family from any fights over the biggest room- a huge perk if you are familiar with such squabbles.

With a walk out basement foundation, you have a ground level porch stacked with the main floor’s back porch. Unlike the full basement option, this one has plenty of natural light. With a blank canvas, one could create living space for elderly parents that appreciate being on the ground floor or a rental unit. Even if a basement is not finished right away, it always leaves the possibility open for a game theater room, wine cellar or any other use that you can imagine.

Outdoor equipment is conveniently kept in the storage room behind the garage which opens outside.
